News in brief......13 July 98
First off, I have to apologise for being more than a little behind with all
this...I just kept putting it off through one reason or another...apologies
all. Ed
Aouali informs us that Barbara has been to the surgeon and they
are getting her to have more biopsy test. All in all she is
still in the waiting mode but handling it very well.
Helen is being trained by the ducks in
the brook behind her house to bring out bread when they see her :-)
Lynne has had a busy time on the farm,
with chicks, racoon invasions, and snakes! She is also writing a report for
her county about school dropouts, which will be used to create a new programme
for the county. She's also had a visit from Gathel, who brought some German
tea with him, which he got when visiting Tina :-)
Johnny reports that Tara, his girlfriend,
is now a state registered news! Yay :)
Casey has lost one of his parakeets.
Not a huge surprise - Sammie had a breathing problem just a few days
after we brought her home this past April. He could have taken her back and
got another, but they'd have just destroyed her, so he decided to keep her and
make her life as comfortable as possible, however short that may be.
AllieAnne has a new job starting on
the 15th of July as a software tester and document writer!
Lisa has given us a long post about
recent events...Tyler, her son, has arrived in the UK and will be with her
and Graham for seven weeks. Soon-to-be-step-son, Chris kindly gave up half
of his room for him :-) Chris also had a summer ball on Friday, wish Lisa
describes as "very posh".
Furthermore, should anyone decide last minute to turn up to the wedding, then
the details are: July 24, in Devizes at 3pm. And should anyone want to join
in a Magical Mystery Tour to Liverpool to visit some Beatles haunts, then
contact Lisa or Graham :)
Hernan has managed to get through his
prensentation with flying colours - he says he got a '7', the highest mark,
ie, 100% :) The project took 2 and a half years to research, create and get
working :) (Ed: no I don't know what it is -- Hernan doesn't say!)
Paul and Laura are crossing the
pond, but only for a week - they will be here from September 19 -> 27th. Any
one wishing to meet, then please get in touch! Laura also tells us that
Travelsecrets have some really
cheap airfares... :-)
Paula has had a company outing, which she
says was really fun :) She goes on to say: "We were broken up
into 4 groups (I was in the milky way group- yes, we were all named
after candy bars). Our group first had to cross a mine field. There were
two boxes with a "mine field" inbetween and we were given two planks of
wood and had to figure out how to get across. Needless to say, we got
blown up a few times before we managed to get across.
Then we were given a compass and some instructions and had to find out
way to the next destination. Now, keep in mind that this is the
Netherlands, so you're never more than a few meters away from
civilisation. I wasn't too worried about getting lost. That's just not
possible in this country, even for a seasoned AGMer who's attended
AZAGM. :-)
", and so it goes on... :-) But she thinks she'll never have a need to build
a catapult in her life :)
