The place and date for the 1998 AGM event of the year has now been settled! It will be in Devon, England, in a seaside town where Mart's Aunt has a hotel with plenty of room for an AGM invasion!

Last Night of the Proms - Sept 1998

Is there anyone interested in a London (UK) meet next September in Hyde Park for the Last Night of the Proms? The BBC Proms Festival is a long music festival that runs from May/June through to the culmination, the "Last Night of the Proms". The Promenade concerts began over 100 yrs ago and include a wide range of music. The Last Night tends to be classical music - the first half of the concert varies each year, but the second half remains almost constant: 'Rule Britannia', 'Land of Hope and Glory', 'Jerusalem', 'Fantasia on British Sea Songs' etc. Unlike normal concerts, it's very much an 'audience particpation' event as well -- you're encouraged to join in!

For the past couple of Proms concerts, a video link was set up from the Albert Hall to Hyde Park, so even more people could watch it, but as with many things the British Weather is notoriously unreliable, so I don't know what happens if it rains :) This year in the park they had Riverdance perform some bits before the concert actually began. So any takers for the Proms-in-the-Park AGM? :-)
